Besides its vast versatility, the Opel Zafira also features astonishing driving dynamics and safety.

The cutting edge in technology is defined by the Interactive Driving System (IDSPlus). All active and passive vehicle safety systems such as ABS, ESP®Plus and electronic Continuous Damping Control (CDC) are interconnected and adjusted in fractions of a second by the control software. The result: maximum steering precision, stable cornering and fantastic handling.

IDSPlus

The IDSPlus chassis has all the features of IDS but also has Continuous Damping Control (CDC). With this, sensors monitor changes in the vehicle dynamics and continually adjust the suspension for optimum handling and road holding.

SportSwitch

The SportSwitch is available with IDS Sport chassis and IDSPlus. It adds sporting zest by activating the Sport mode: power steering, gas pedal, and – if equipped – the automatic transmission as well as the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) are switched to sharper, sportier characteristics. This immediately adds extra responsiveness and tauter handling. The result is almost like having two cars in one.

Electronic Stability Program Plus (ESP®Plus)

Controlled brake intervention on up to 3 wheels counteracts even extreme understeer (such as sudden avoidance movements) to maintain overall control.

Hill Start Assist (HSA)

The optional HSA senses when the car is on an incline and activates the brakes for an extra 5 seconds to prevent any backward movement without using the parking brake. Forward acceleration deactivates it.

5-Star Euro NCAP rating

The Opel SAFETEC® system begins with a 5-star rated rigid passenger protection structure. This has been computer designed and physically tested to ensure the least possible deformation and largest possible protection space in the event of serious impact from front, rear or sides. To this are added the active safety elements which include ESP®Plus, IDS, ABS with Cornering Brake Control (CBC), active head restraints, Pedal Release System (PRS), front and thorax airbags for driver and co-driver, automatic hazard brake flashers, etc.

Bi-Xenon Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL)

By reacting to your speed and steering input, the Adaptive Forward Lighting swivels to make night driving safer and more relaxed by providing extra curve illumination.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Sensors monitor individual tire pressures, and if there is a loss of pressure a warning, indicating the affected tire, is displayed on the Graphic or Color Info Display.
